CDL Class A - Weirton Campus

Calendar Apr 21, 2025 at 9 am, runs for 5 weeks

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class A commercial driver’s license.  The total cost of the course is $4,699.   This registration is for a seat reservation. 

The course consists of two weeks of in-class training to obtain a valid CDL-learner permit.  General Knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, and doubles and triples will be covered to obtain the permit.  Hours of service, FMCSA's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving will also be covered. Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. Training will consist of proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city streets and highways. 

Applicants must pass a D.O.T. physical exam and drug screening before the first day of class.

CDL Class B Wheeling Campus

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class B commercial driver's license.  Subjects covered during this course are:  general knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, hours of service, Federal motor Carrier Safety Administration's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving. 

Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training.  This training will include the proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate of city streets and highways.

Cost includes Dept. of Transportation physical, permit and 2 attempt at the CDL Driving test.

CDL - Hazmat ELDT Training

This class meets the qualifications for the ELDT training required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.  The course provides students with the knowledge needed to transport hazardous materials in adherence with both federal and state laws.  It will also help prepare drivers for the Hazardous Materials Endorsement Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) exam.  The course is held on campus, in a computer lab, using online curriculum and the WVNCC CDL program curriculum.

Light Duty Truck Safety Training

This 16 hour course will train students on how to properly pre-trip and drive a light duty truck.  It will instruct students on how to safely perform reverse maneuvers, use the truck mirrors, parking and driving safely on city streets.  This course will also cover the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration hours of service.

Refresher 1 Courses for CDL A License

This course is designed to refresh a previous driver's experience level back to a competent level.  It is designed for drivers who have a current CDL A license but have not been utilizing it presently.   During this one week program, students will be retrained on proper pre-trip inspections of a commercial motor vehicle, to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city street and highways.

Cost includes Dept. of Transportation physical and 1 attempt at the CDL Driving test.

Refresher 2 Courses for CDL A License

This course is designed to refresh a previous driver's experience level back to a competent level.  It is designed for drivers who have a current CDL A license in the past, but currently do not have a valid license.  Drivers must obtain a permit on their own prior to class.   

During this two week program, students will be retrained on proper pre-trip inspections of a commercial motor vehicle, to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city street and highways.

Cost includes Dept. of Transportation physical and 1 attempt at the CDL Driving test.

Upgrade CDL Class B License to Class A License

This course is designed to prepare students who have a current unexpired CDL Class B license on the knowledge and training needed to take the permit and driving test for a CDL Class A license.  Classroom, road and range training are part of this 120 hour course.

Cost includes permit and 2 attempt at the CDL Driving test.
