This course is for those new to photography and those that have been doing photography, but would like a better understanding of their camera and the basic principles of photography. You will learn how to set-up your camera properly and the essentials of photography, including: exposure, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, ISO, program and manual modes, and image file types.

We will also cover composition, lens selection, depth-of-field, exposure compensation, and more. Students will share and discuss their images during the class.

We will cover all the modules with particular emphasis on the Library and Develop modules, including: importing photos from your camera into a catalog, keywords and metadata, editing, developing and processing using Camera Raw and other tools.

Students will need to have access to Adobe Lightroom software through an Adobe Lightroom or Photography plan.

We will review and use the many tools, such as crop, healing brushes, selections, levels and curves, brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation, black&white, and more. Most importantly, we will learn and master the use of layers which is the most powerful component of Photoshop. During the class students will work with images supplied by the instructor so that everyone us doing the same edits at the same time, in order to lead to mastering photoshop.

Students will need to have access to Photoshop software through an Adobe Photography plan or a trial version.

Students will work with instructor supplied images for learning and then use their own images to demonstrate their mastery of the software.
