This course provides an introduction to reading and interpreting machine shop symbols, welding blueprints, and working drawings used in trades and crafts. Focus is on dimension, shape, fabrication and assembly. Applies basic mathematics to the solution of print and performance problems. This is an online course from August 24 - December 11, 2026. The course provides the basic theory of fluid power systems including Pascal's Law. Students will study the various components of fluid power systems including pumps, values, cylinders, filters, heat exchangers, pressure regulators and accumulators. Hydraulic terminology and the use of hydraulic symbols on schematics are an area of focus. Students will design and troubleshoot elementary fluid power circuits. Students will also study pneumatic systems and system components. Both hydraulic and pneumatic system are covered in the maintenance sections. The class is from August 25 - December 10, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 1:40 p.m. Cost $875.00

They will be instructed on Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes according to the American Welding Society (AWS) Part D1.1Structural Steel standards. 

Cost of the course is $875.00 This class will be held every Friday from August 28, through December 11. 8:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Learn the process of SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) Stick Welding. This program is an intense, hands-on training to prepare for the initial Certification test after this course. Course fees will include the cost of the certification exam.

Full payment, financial assistance or 25% downpayment and a payment plan MUST BE completed and approved by WVNCC three (3) business days prior to the first day of class.   You will be dropped from the class after that date.

This course may be eligible for college credit (WELD 202 Beginning MIG) upon successful completion.

This course introduces students to the safety, nomenclature, and set up procedures for gas and metal arc welding (MIG). Students will perform open Single-V-Groove welds on plate without backing. Students will learn how to weld in all four positions and prepare for a certification test at the end of this course.
