Our Classes
CDL Class A - Wheeling Campus
with Roger Klinger
This course is designed to prepare students for a Class A commercial driver’s license. The total cost of the course is $4,699. This registration is for a seat reservation.
The course consists of two weeks of in-class training to obtain a valid CDL-learner permit. General Knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, and doubles and triples will be covered to obtain the permit. Hours of service, FMCSA's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving will also be covered. Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. Training will consist of proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city streets and highways.
Applicants must pass a D.O.T. physical exam and drug screening before the first day of class.

Paramedic Refresher Module III: Cardiovascular

This is a 4.5 hour course which meets WVOEMS Approved Paramedic Refresher (NCCP Standards)
Required Objectives:
- Understand the function of Ventricular Assist Devices
- Describe assessment/management of patients with VAD’s
- Discuss pathophysiology of congestive heart failure
- Discuss s/s and treatment of congestive heart failure
- Discuss the assessment and management of coronary disease and angina
- List the s/s of acute MI
- Identify injury patterns on a 12-lead ECG
- Differentiate STEMI from STEMI imposters
- Explain the procedure for managing an acute MI including STEMI and non-STEMI presentations
- Understand the benefits of reperfusion techniques in patients with AMI or suspected AMI
- Demonstrate the current techniques of cardiac arrest management
- Discuss airway issues in cardiac arrest management
- Determine criteria for terminating cardiac arrest in the out-of-hospital setting
- Identify signs associated with Return of Spontaneous Circulation
- Describe how to effectively manage hemodynamic instability
- List possible causes of cardiac arrest
- Make appropriate treatment choices
- Make appropriate destination decision

Phlebotomy Technician - Wheeling Campus

----- HYBRID COURSE -----
Students will complete learning modules, quizzes and tests in an online platform and in person class instruction will be used for answering questions and all required labwork.
Program Length: 40 hours of instruction
This course prepares the student for the Phlebotomy Technician role in a healthcare setting. The student will be instructed on techniques & skills related to preparing and monitoring patients for relevant procedures, and gain an understanding of infection control measures. Students are required to successfully demonstrate adequate skills related to Phlebotomy techniques, including 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary draws which are required for the student to be eligible to take the Phlebotomy Certification exam. This exam will be taken at the end of the course.
Additionally, program completers of EKG and Phlebotomy can receive college credit towards WVNCC’s Patient Care Technician Certificate – a one-year program.

CDL Class B Wheeling Campus

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class B commercial driver's license. Subjects covered during this course are: general knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, hours of service, Federal motor Carrier Safety Administration's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving.
Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. This training will include the proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate of city streets and highways.
Cost includes Dept. of Transportation physical, permit and 2 attempt at the CDL Driving test.

Paramedic Refresher Module IV: Trauma

This is a 3.5 hour course which meets WVOEMS Approved Paramedic Refresher (NCCP Standards)
Required Objectives:
- Identify the triage criteria in the CDC’s Field Triage Decision Scheme
- State the four steps of the CDC’s Field Triage Decision Scheme
- Review local protocols
- Identify s/s of a patient with a traumatic brain injury
- Explain the use of ETCO2 as a guide for ventilating head injury patients
- Define primary and secondary spinal cord injury.
- Discuss various cord syndromes and their s/s
- Discuss s/s of neurogenic shock and spinal shock
- Describe how to investigate the chief complaint of a patient with a gastrointestinal disorder, including how to take the patient’s history.
- Discuss the management and treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders
- Identify and treat severe hemorrhage
- Differentiate among indications, effects, and contraindications for the use of:
- Tourniquets
- Junctional Tourniquets
- Hemostatic agents
- TXA
- Explain the concept of permissive hypotension
- Discuss the dangers of excessive fluid administration
- Describe Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) as a tool to better evaluate perfusion

AHA CPR and First Aid - New Martinsville

This course is also eligible for college credit at WVNCC (HPE 110).
This course is designed to instruct non-medical personnel on how to recognize and treat a life-threatening emergency. Topics include cardiovascular emergencies, external and internal injuries, stroke, heart attack/cardiac arrest, and basic first aid.
Upon successful completion of the course, students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED First Aid card valid for 2 years.
Yoga for Beginners

This class must have a minimum number of 3 students to run.This class is designed for the individual who is completely new to the practice of yoga. Participants will learn the foundations of yoga technique, and apply the principals of yoga to calm the mind and strengthen the body. Class participants should be prepared with a yoga mat, small towel, and plenty of water.
