Low Impact Aerobic-WEIRTON ONLY
with Carol Teoff

This is a low impact aerobics class with an emphasis on cardiorespiratory endurance, strength, improvement and flexibility with no chair or floor work, usually to music that is 128-140 bpm. Students can use stretchy bands. The instructor will demonstrate easier and more difficult ways to do each movement so that the students can exercise at their own level.

Home Health Aide - New Martinsville Campus
with Amanda Logston

This course is designed to prepare students for a career as a home health aide. Instruction is 75 hours (including 59 hours of classroom/lab and 16 hours of clinical experience).
Instruction includes how to provide care in the home for clients who cannot care for themselves. These services could be daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, dressing, and bathing. They may also perform basic medical services such as checking vital signs. They may provide long-term care or intermittent care. Some specialize in geriatric care or pediatric home health.
Additional topics include:
- Federal requirements for home health aides
- Expanded coverage on infection prevention and control
- Observing and reporting
- HIPAA and how to protect a client's privacy
- Proper nutrition and special diets
- Care guidelines for specific diseases and now includes COVID-19
- Vital signs, including a new skill for measuring blood pressure electronically
- Pain management
- Mental health and mental health disorders
- Commonly-used abbreviations
- Oxygen therapy
- Family and home dynamics

Wine Tasting @ Moss Farms
with Zack Oberle

This class will help students distinguish the difference between the mouth feel associated with the brix of each wine comparing fruit wines, grape wines, dry wines, semi-sweet, and sweet wines. Susan will discuss the wine making process. The student will learn how to clarify the wines and the cold stabilization of wines. Wine tastings are included with the class.

Phlebotomy Technician - Weirton Campus

Students will complete learning modules, quizzes and tests in an online platform and in person class instruction will be used for answering questions and all required labwork.
Program Length: 40 hours of instruction (20 hours of online work)
This course prepares the student for the Phlebotomy Technician role in a healthcare setting. The student will be instructed on techniques & skills related to preparing and monitoring patients for relevant procedures, and gain an understanding of infection control measures. Students are required to successfully demonstrate adequate skills related to Phlebotomy techniques, including 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary draws which are required for the student to be eligible to take the Phlebotomy Certification exam. This exam will be taken at the end of the course.
Additionally, program completers of EKG and Phlebotomy can receive college credit towards WVNCC’s Patient Care Technician Certificate – a one-year program.

CDL Class A - Weekend - Wheeling Campus

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class A commercial driver’s license. The total cost of the course is $4,699. This registration is for a seat reservation.
The course consists of two weeks of in-class training to obtain a valid CDL-learner permit. General Knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, and doubles and triples will be covered to obtain the permit. Hours of service, FMCSA's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving will also be covered. Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. Training will consist of proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city streets and highways.
Applicants must pass a D.O.T. physical exam and drug screening before the first day of class.

Certified Manufacturing Associate New Martinsville

This course utilizes curriculum based on SME’s Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) certification. This training is focused on basic manufacturing concepts, demonstrating an individual’s potential for high-demand, entry-level manufacturing roles.
It was designed for individuals new to manufacturing who may not currently possess enough knowledge or experience for more advanced technical certifications. Covering fundamental topics such as shop math, assembly, maintenance, machining, inspection, and more, this industry-driven certification demonstrates that the individual has basic knowledge of manufacturing.
Classes will meet on the New Martinsville campus beginning April 21 through June 16, 2025. 5:30 p.m - 8:30 p.m.

Fitness for Beginners
with Amanda Sage

This class must have a minimum number of 3 students to run. This class is geared toward individuals who are looking to start an exercise program, but may not know where to begin. Topics covered include; cardiovascular fitness, strength training, and flexibility. Exercises are presented in a nurturing, non-competitive atmosphere and are modified based on the individual. Participants should bring a mat, pair of weights, (3-5 pounds) small towel, and plenty of water to class.
HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) New Martinsville Campus

The HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) program is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in high-quality CPR skills and teamwork for the adult, child, and infant.
HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and it conforms with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the annual Guidelines Update. Continuing Education Hours Available: Emergency Medical Services (CAPCE) and Dental Professionals (AGD/PACE). Dates are Monday, April 28 and May 5, 2025.
