Students will complete learning modules, quizzes and tests in an online platform and in person class instruction will be used for answering questions and all required labwork.   You will be asked to bring in acquaintenances for lab time during this class. 

Program Length: 40 hours of instruction

This course prepares the student for the Phlebotomy Technician role in a healthcare setting. The student will be instructed on techniques & skills related to preparing and monitoring patients for relevant procedures, and gain an understanding of infection control measures. Students are required to successfully demonstrate adequate skills related to Phlebotomy techniques, including 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary draws which are required for the student to be eligible to take the NHA Phlebotomy Certification exam. 

Additionally, program completers of EKG and Phlebotomy can receive college credit towards WVNCC’s Patient Care Technician Certificate – a one-year program.

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class A commercial driver’s license.  The total cost of the course is $4,999.00. The $25.00 registration fee does not guarantee you a seat in the class. Confirmed financial aid, full payment or an approved payment plan is what will hold your seat in class if one is available. The $25.00 fee it is fully refundable.

The course consists of two weeks of in-class training to obtain a valid CDL-learner permit.  General Knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, and doubles and triples will be covered to obtain the permit.  Hours of service, FMCSA's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving will also be covered. Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. Training will consist of proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city streets and highways. 

Applicants must pass a D.O.T. physical exam and drug screening before the first day of class.

WEATHER PERMITING-Come join the fastest growing sport in America. This class is hands on and active. The instructor, Ron Ritter, will hold the first class on Weirton campus in room 243, to go over the rules of the game. The classes following will be held outside at Starveggi Park in Weirton. The address for the courts is 144 Starveggi Drive. This class meets on Tuesdays and Thursday nights only for three weeks from 5pm-6pm. The cost is $30 per person. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Bring your own water bottle, towels and equipment, if you have it. Equipment will be provided if you dont have your own. In case of rain, we will reschedule your class according to your teacher.

Students will utilize an online learning platform for lectures and quizzes.  In person labs are scheduled during this 6 week class timeframe.

This course prepares students for the EKG Technician role in a healthcare setting.  Students will be taught the principles of quality control, infection control, safety procedures, pathology, medical terminology, and patient care's legal and ethical aspects.  This course includes classroom instruction and campus laboratory skills practice.   Students are required to obtain 10 EKGs on live individuals.  Students who complete all aspects of the course are eligible to sit for the EKG Technician Certification Exam, provided by the National Health Career Association.

This class will introduce the student to basic drone concepts for recreational drone pilots. Topics include: FAA regulations for hobbyist pilots, understanding airspace and weather, safe preflight procedures and takeoff/landing techniques, and introductory drone photography or videography principles. There will be both classroom and actual drone flying components to this class. Students will receive 30 minutes of actual flying time during the class and the emphasis will be on flying for fun while preparing each student to obtain their own drone and to operate it safely.

Per the WV Health Dept. - "Certification requires at least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and services shall be a certified food protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of the accredited program."

This American Heart Association BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support. This course reflects the updated 2020 American Heart Association guidelines.  It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics.  Upon successful completion of the course, students receive an American Heart Association BLS certification card which is valid for two years.
