CDL Class A - Wheeling Campus

Calendar Oct 28, 2024 at 8 am, runs for 5 weeks

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class A commercial driver’s license.  The total cost of the course is $4,699.   This registration is for a seat reservation. 

The course consists of two weeks of in-class training to obtain a valid CDL-learner permit.  General Knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, and doubles and triples will be covered to obtain the permit.  Hours of service, FMCSA's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving will also be covered. Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. Training will consist of proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city streets and highways. 

Applicants must pass a D.O.T. physical exam and drug screening before the first day of class.

CDL Class B

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class B commercial driver's license.  Subjects covered during this course are:  general knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, hours of service, Federal motor Carrier Safety Administration's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving. 

Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training.  This training will include the proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate of city streets and highways.

Cost includes Dept. of Transportation physical, permit and 2 attempt at the CDL Driving test.

EKG Technician - Weirton Campus

Students will utilize an online learning platform for lectures and quizzes.  In person labs will be scheduled within the 5 week class timeframe.

This course prepares students for the EKG Technician role in a healthcare setting.  Students will be taught the principles of quality control, infection control, safety procedures, pathology, medical terminology, and patient care's legal and ethical aspects.  This course includes classroom instruction and campus laboratory skills practice.   Students are required to obtain 10 EKGs on live individuals.  Students who complete all aspects of the course are eligible to sit for the EKG Technician Certification Exam, provided by the National Health Career Association.

Additionally, program completers of EKG and Phlebotomy can receive college credit towards WVNCC’s Patient Care Technician Certificate – a one-year program.

Certified Nurse Assistant - Wheeling Campus (seat reservation)

Program length: (65 contact hours of classroom instruction, 55 contact hours of clinical instruction)

There is a $25 seat reservation that is refundable if you are qualified for financial aid.  Total cost of the program is $1,999.

The Certified Nursing Assistant program prepares individuals for an entry-level position in the health care field. Graduates work closely with patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. The nursing assistant provides important information on patient conditions to nurses and is vital to the daily operations of a skilled nursing facility, home health organization, or hospital. After program completion, prospective Nursing Assistants take a competency examination to become certified. 

Additionally, program completers can receive college credit towards WVNCC’s Patient Care Technician Certificate – a one-year program.

ServSafe Food Protection Manager Course - Weirton Campus

Basic Soft Skills - New Martinsville

This course is designed to prepare students with basic skills for job searches, resume and cover letters.  It will include basic information on interview techniques and essential qualities for job success.  Upon successful completion of the course, attendees receive a continuing education certificate of completion.
