Phlebotomy Technician - New Martinsville Class

New Martinsville Campus

------5 Week HYBRID Course ----- 

Program Length: 40 hours of instruction

This course prepares the student for the Phlebotomy Technician role in a healthcare setting. The student will be instructed on techniques & skills related to preparing and monitoring patients for relevant procedures, and gain an understanding of infection control measures. Students are required to successfully demonstrate adequate skills related to Phlebotomy techniques, including 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary draws which are required for the student to be eligible to take the Phlebotomy Certification exam. This exam will be taken in the last week of the course.

Additionally, program completers of EKG and Phlebotomy can receive college credit towards WVNCC’s Patient Care Technician Certificate – a one-year program.

NAEMT - All Hazards Disaster Response (AHDR)

This course is designed to instruct students on responding to many types of disaster scenarios they may encounter, including natural disasters, infrastructure failings, fires, radiological events, pandemics, active shooter incidents and other mass casualty events.  AHDR educates participants on how to analyze potential threats in their area, assess available resources, and create a response plan that will save lives.

Certified Manufacturing Associate -Weirton Campus

This course utilizes curriculum based on SME’s Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) certification.  This training is focused on basic manufacturing concepts, demonstrating an individual’s potential for high-demand, entry-level manufacturing roles.

It was designed for individuals new to manufacturing who may not currently possess enough knowledge or experience for more advanced technical certifications. Covering fundamental topics such as shop math, assembly, maintenance, machining, inspection, and more, this industry-driven certification demonstrates that the individual has basic knowledge of manufacturing.  

 

Construction Laborers Training Overview - Weirton

This course is a basic overview and training for those interested in a career in construction.  The course will include OSHA 10 training, how to interpret drawings used in construction and maintenance, what hand and power tools are used in the industry, and for what tasks.

OSHA 10 (General Industry) - Weirton Campus

This course is designed to introduce entry-level workers to basic awareness training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards. The course also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer  responsibilities, and filing a complaint.  Books and OSHA 10 card included in class fee.

OSHA 30 (General Industry) - Weirton Campus

TThis course is designed to instruct the student on the basic principles of safety required for OSHA 30 certification and is appropriate for supervisors and workers.  Students will learn the proper use of safety and personal protective equipment and are introduced to work site hazards and protections.  Additional topics include: avoiding common hazards, understanding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and more.
