Home Health Aide - Wheeling Campus

This course is designed to prepare students for a career as a home health aide.  Instruction is 75 hours (including 59 hours of classroom/lab and 16 hours of clinical experience). 

CLASS SCHEDULE 

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays   from 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Instruction includes how to provide care in the home for clients who cannot care for themselves.  These services could be daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, dressing, and bathing. They may also perform basic medical services such as checking vital signs. They may provide long-term care or intermittent care. Some specialize in geriatric care or pediatric home health.

Additional topics include:  

  • Federal requirements for home health aides
  • Expanded coverage on infection prevention and control
  • Observing and reporting
  • HIPAA and how to protect a client's privacy
  • Proper nutrition and special diets
  • Care guidelines for specific diseases and now includes COVID-19
  • Vital signs, including a new skill for measuring blood pressure electronically
  • Pain management
  • Mental health and mental health disorders
  • Commonly-used abbreviations
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Family and home dynamics

Inventory Management within the Supply Chain and Operations Management Cycle

This course is designed to instruct students on the provision of general knowledge and comprehension of Shipping and Receiving of Inventory and how it correlates to the overall Logistical Processes within the Supply Chain Cycle. 

The course will demonstrate how the process of shipping and receiving contributes to the overall success of Warehouse Management, and how it plays a tremendous role in the logistical processes that are relevant, innovative, and progressive for the efficient operations and performance of Corporations. 

This is an online class with online class meetings once a week with the instructor.  Class times will be Tuesdays from 6:00pm - 9:00pm starting on September 17, 2024 and ending October 22, 2024.

ServSafe Food Protection Manager Course - New Martinsville Campus

Books and certification are are included in the fees.

Per the WV Health Dept. - "Certification requires at least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and services shall be a certified food protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of the accredited program."

Customer Service Training - Wheeling Campus

This course is designed to instruct students on the development of skills necessary to communicate effectively in all public-facing roles. Topics include customer service etiquette, communication skills, professional appearance, empathy, adaptability, self-control, patience, and more. Upon successful completion of the course, attendees receive a continuing education certificate of completion.

Bowling (Weirton) Sundays only FALL 2024

We are offering a 6 week course at Holiday Lanes, Weirton, West Virginia on on Sundays only 9/20/24-10/25/24 taught by a USBC Level 1 Bowling Coach. CDL Class A - WEEKEND Wheeling Campus (Seat Reservation)

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class A commercial driver’s license.  The total cost of the course is $4,699.   This registration is for a seat reservation. 

The course consists of two weeks of in-class training to obtain a valid CDL-learner permit.  General Knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, and doubles and triples will be covered to obtain the permit.  Hours of service, FMCSA's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving will also be covered. Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. Training will consist of proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city streets and highways. 

Applicants must pass a D.O.T. physical exam and drug screening before the first day of class.

Fitness for Beginners

This class is geared toward individuals who are looking to start an exercise program, but may not know where to begin. Topics covered include; cardiovascular fitness, strength training, and flexibility. Exercises are presented in a nurturing, non-competitive atmosphere and are modified based on the individual. Participants should bring a mat, pair of weights, (3-5 pounds) small towel, and plenty of water to class.

Yoga for Beginners

This class is designed for the individual who is completely new to the practice of yoga. Participants will learn the foundations of yoga technique, and apply the principals of yoga to calm the mind and strengthen the body. Class participants should be prepared with a yoga mat, small towel, and plenty of water
