Forklift Safety and Operator Training - New Martinsville Campus

This class will teach students how to safely operate a forklift within the parameters of an industrial / manufacturing site.   

Instruction will cover calculating capacity loads, pre-operational checks, care and maintenance of the truck, and safe propane cylinder changing.  The course is 9 hours long and is typically scheduled over 2 days, with the safety class of approximately 6 hours taking place the first day and then hands on operation of the forklift on the second day.  

This course can also be customized to fit a specific company’s equipment, and can be held offsite when requested.

Fitness for Beginners

This class is geared toward individuals who are looking to start an exercise program, but may not know where to begin. Topics covered include; cardiovascular fitness, strength training, and flexibility. Exercises are presented in a nurturing, non-competitive atmosphere and are modified based on the individual. Participants should bring a mat, pair of weights, (3-5 pounds) small towel, and plenty of water to class.

Yoga for Beginners

This class is designed for the individual who is completely new to the practice of yoga. Participants will learn the foundations of yoga technique, and apply the principals of yoga to calm the mind and strengthen the body. Class participants should be prepared with a yoga mat, small towel, and plenty of water

CDL Class A - New Martinsville Campus (Seat Reservation)

Calendar Aug 19, 2024 at 8 am, runs for 5 weeks

This course is designed to prepare students for a Class A commercial driver’s license.  The total cost of the course is $4,699.   This registration is for a seat reservation. 

The course consists of two weeks of in-class training to obtain a valid CDL-learner permit.  General Knowledge, airbrakes, combination sections, tanker endorsement, and doubles and triples will be covered to obtain the permit.  Hours of service, FMCSA's compliance, safety, accountability, and defensive driving will also be covered. Once a permit is obtained, students will continue with three weeks of road and range training. Training will consist of proper pre-trip inspection of a commercial motor vehicle and how to safely perform reverse maneuvers and operate on city streets and highways. 

*August 19 to August 30 you will be in classroom 110 N from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

*September 2 to September 20 will be Road and Range 8:00 am to 4:00  pm instructor will let you know where to meet. 

Applicants must pass a D.O.T. physical exam and drug screening before the first day of class.

Paramedic Program - Fall 2024 (Seat Reservation) - Day Class

The EMS Education Program is taking applications and seat reservations for the Fall 2024 Cohort. The 14-month program will begin August 2024. Tuition is $5,999. Classes will be offered in a variable format to meet the needs of the first responder community. This includes a hybrid format of live online, online coursework and in person face-to-face. All labs and clinical rotations are completed face-to-face. Lab will be every Wednesday 1p - 5p.  Classes will be held at the Wheeling Campus, 1704 Market Street Wheeling, WV 26003.

Prerequisites include a current WVOEMS or NREMT EMT certificate, available through WVNCC Career Development.  All students are required to complete a Paramedic Entry Assessment Exam and have an interview with Paramedic Program Staff.  

You can reserve your seat in the class with a $50 deposit.  Contact us to discuss the financial aid options and payment plan options for the remainder of the tuition.

Learn the process of SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) Stick Welding. This program is an intense, hands-on training to prepare for the initial Certification test after this course. Course fees will include the cost of the certification exam.

American Sign Language 1

Calendar Aug 20, 2024 at 6 pm, runs for 8 weeks

This course is designed to instruct students in the proper syntax and basic grammatical constructs of ASL.   Over 500 signs are introduced and utilized in conversations, enabling students to express basic ideas.  ASL 1 focuses on American Sign Language as a visual and motor medium of communication and discourse for deaf individuals and deaf culture.  Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will receive a continuing education certificate of completion.
